Introduction
Also known as Polyoxyethylene (4) Sorbitan Monolaurate, it is a pale yellow to yellow viscous liquid at room temperature. It is soluble in methanol, ethanol, ethylene glycol, ethyl acetate, corn oil, cottonseed oil, and mineral oil. It has emulsifying, stabilizing, dispersing, and lubricating properties, and is an oil-in-water (O/W) type emulsifier with a Hydrophilic-Lipophilic Balance (HLB) value of 13.3.
